Tahiti & Moorea
Tahiti, Previously also known as Otaheite (obsolete) is the 8-shaped, largest island in the Windward group of French Polynesia.
After our amazing vacation in Hawaii last thanksgiving, we wanted our kids to experience the same; but, in Tahiti this time.T A H I T I, it issss....
A 3 day vacation in the most beautiful resort of Tahiti, we also made sure to visit the much more beautiful smaller island besides, Moorea(meaning, Area of the yellow lizard).
Here's what our schedule looked like:
Day 1:
**************************
Nov 17th : Reached Papeete, Tahiti in the morning. Wanted to spend the entire day in the all exclusive Tahiti Intercontinental Resort. Was an amazing day. We just enjoyed the farthest over-the-water cottages and enjoyed the day snorkelling and swimming around our cottage. The weather was soo good that we just didn't want to get out of the water. The cottage had a back ladder, that directly led to the waters.. which was the best part.
Day 2:
**************************
Nov 18th : Awesome full day tour in 'Moorea', Island of the yellow lizard. We booked the full day tour package with Captain Taina and Xavio. Found them on Tripadvisor. They were soo friendly and were patient in explaining all the questions we asked them about the island, taking us around the wonderful island in their glass-bottomed boat, which was simply soo awesome.
We took a ferry from Papete to Moorea first thing in the morning.
Here's what Captain Taina and Xavio's tour treated us to:
Started of with a drive from the port to the boat-ride starting point, with Captain Taina. This was a tour that was routed around the island with various activities to follow.
- We had out local breakfast on the way to the boat, from a road-side local stall. Pork-slices with local bread. Seems, that is the bread that would be sold exclusively on sundays for people who return from sunday services.Though skeptical in eating it, our desire to taste local food, forced us to buy it. But .. wow! Food was delicious....yumm yumm
We reached Captain Taina's private boat port and quickly changed to our diving suits. All nervous and yet excited.
- We next took a boat ride with Captain Taina to explore Turtles and underwater statues.Seems the turtles come up every 15 minutes for fresh air. That's amazing. We waited for 15 minutes to monitor that. It was a fun wait with kids getting eager to see the turtle doing that.
- And then, we were taken to the most amazing experience of the entire day. The direct encounter with Sting Rays and Sharks
- Lunch at Captain Taina's Private Island
- While Captain Taina and me got into quick cooking class on Tahiti's traditional "Sevichae", The boys saw some really interesting shells here. Check out this video for walking shells below:
- We fed the eels, and to our surprise, a shark passed by and luckily, we hadn't got into the water at that point. Here's what we captured of the shark
- After an awesome and tiresome day inMoorea with Captain Taina's boat tour, we headed back to the port to sail back to Tahiti. We got some dinner from the local restaurant at the port in Tahiti.

Day 3 & 4(morning):
**************************
Not much exclusive schedules today.
Enjoyed the lagoon in the resort itself for half the day.
Went out shopping in the local market.
Got some exclusive Black pearls, with Kid's choice :).
Never to miss the black pearls here. Tahiti is well-known for its Black pearls.
Got all set and packed up for our return to the airport for the next destination tomorrow morning..
Awaiting in zeal to see NEW ZEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEALAND. (Auckland) >>>> Video vlog in progress)
What a beautiful first-half of the vacation that was.... Gonna miss you Tahiti. In love with the movie "Moana" all over. Watched it on the flight on return :)
